Media: What Makes Next-Gen Games
On March 29, International Game Developers Association, San Diego produced a panel discussion of What Makes A Next-Gen Game? that enabled a dialogue between video-game journalists and developers.
One of the largest events in the chapter’s history, the event received more than 200 attendees, representing developers and publishers in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and even New York.
What characterizes a next-generation game? Are next-gen games the products of their respective platforms? Are next-gen games defined by bigger environments, better graphics, and faster animations? Or are next-gen games defined by the experiences they provide to consumers?
